Sweet and Semi-Sweet Wines
If you favor a sweet or semi-sweet bouquet, try any of the three Saluki wines vinted at Orlandini Vineyard. To savor sweet notes of black cherry and plum, sample the Saluki Red created from Chambourcin grapes grown in the Shawnee Hills AVA. The Saluki White is a semi-sweet white wine that begins with the aromas of honey suckle and flavors of candied lemon drop. IT finishes with the crisp refreshing flavor of green apple.
Orlandini Vineyard Dry Wines
If a drier palate appeals to your particular tastes, try Orlandini Vineyard’s 2011 Chambourcin Blend. This dry red wine is built around the well-tuned combination of Orlandini Vineyard’s Chambourcin grapes and Cabernet Franc grapes. These grapes come from Harvest Moon Vineyard, a vineyard also located within the Shawnee Hills AVA. The combination creates a deep wine that is full of smoky flavor yet maintains its smooth sipping pleasure.
Be sure to taste Orlandini Vineyard’s 2012 Vignoles. Due to weather variations during the 2012 growing season, this particular batch of Vignoles produced a wine with deepened flavors. Savor the intense apricot and pineapple notes that enhance this wine completed with a hint of honey. Visit Orlandini Vineyard to savor the subtle and powerful flavors of Southern Illinois wine.
